Top 10 free Pilates videos

Did somebody say free workouts? Count us in! Free exercise videos are a great way to motivate yourself to workout when sub-zero temperatures strike outside. Used in conjunction with workouts at the gym or running, or as a way to get yourself back into a fitness regime, Pilates videos can help to tone, strengthen and lengthen your body, without the need to rush out and buy a workout DVD. Many are aimed at beginners, and there are even those which you can fit into your lunchbreak.

YouTube is one of the best places to find free Pilates videos, but there are plenty of other sites worth trying to – we've listed a few at the bottom of this article. So here you have our top 10 free Pilates videos – let us know which ones are your favourites!

#1. Pilates Full 30-Minute Class

Need to squeeze a full Pilates workout into just half an hour? This is the video for you. It's ideal for a lunchtime workout at the office, and practised a few times a week, you'll feel stronger and look leaner and more toned. The best part about this video is that there's no workout music in the background, which not only helps to create a more relaxing mood for your workout, but also means you can pop this on at work without disturbing anyone else. All you'll need is an exercise mat and you're good to go!

#2. POP Pilates for Beginners – Total Body Workout

Aimed at beginners, instructor Cassey takes the time to explain the principles of Pilates – breathing, posture and form – in great detail, at a slow pace. This is a really excellent introduction to the basics of Pilates, without being too simple, and you'll also work your legs, arms and core in this 30-minute video. You can use the Beginner's Workout Calendar to guide your progress through the Pilates workouts and keep you motivated. You'll find the link underneath the video on YouTube.

#3. Pilates Perfect Body

Let's face it, who doesn't want a leaner, flatter stomach and toned abs? If you have a bit more time for a Pilates workout, this video is almost an hour long and aimed at those who have some experience of Pilates, although it's still perfectly accessible for beginners. The exercises help to tone and strengthen your core, great for achieving a flat stomach. We love that the pace is ideal for both beginners and those with some experience, and the 'Perfect Stretch' section at the end which helps stretch out your muscles, increase flexibility and prevent injury.

#4. Pilates Butt Burner Full 30-Minute Workout

Angela guides you through an intense 30-minute Pilates session in this video which focuses on your glutes – your bum! You'll burn around 108 calories (although you know calorie counting isn't really our thing), whilst toning and strengthening your posterior. Combined with squats, this will give you a tight, firm bum that will look great in this season's party dresses at that Christmas meal! Because this is only 30 minutes long, it's ideal to squeeze in as an after-work exercise session, or try it in the morning before you head into the office.

#5. 10 Minute Solution – Sculpting Pilates

Maybe you are just looking for a quick Pilates routine that you can fit into your existing fitness regime, say after a session at the gym, run around the park or workout DVD? This 10-minute video is perfect, and focuses on toning and strengthening your arms and shoulders. You will need dumbbells, so this can be carried out at home or at the gym. It's a great quick fix to banish those bingo wings and tone your shoulders and arms.

#6. POP Pilates: Intense Ab Workout

Looking to get rid of your belly? Instructor Cassey Ho helps you tighten and tone your upper, lower and transverse abs, working your core to a cool, upbeat soundtrack that will keep you motivated – it worked for us! This is a 10-minute video, so it's easy to find time for it, no matter how busy work is. Try it in the morning before work instead of a run, at lunchtime, or in the evening before dinner. The moves are challenging enough for those with Pilates experience but Cassey's explanations and demonstrations make them clear enough for beginners to understand too. One of our favourites for a lean, trim core!

#7. POP Pilates: Serious Standing Pilates for Legs, Butt and Obliques

Another video we totally love by instructor Cassey Ho, this time aimed at working your glutes (bum), legs and obliques. We like to use this in conjunction with the Intense Ab Workout, for toning bellies and bums. This is an advanced video, so it's recommended as a challenge for those with at least some previous Pilates experience.

#8. Jessica Smith 26-Minute Cardio Pilates

If you have a spare half hour and can't choose between cardio or Pilates....Pilates or cardio.... why not do both? This workout video moves at a faster pace than most Pilates videos, which is the 'cardio' element. Pilates instructor Jessica Smith takes you through a series of cardio and Pilates moves designed to get your heart rate pumping and endorphins flowing whilst toning. It's a great video for those with some Pilates experience and provides you with a mild to moderate intensity workout – we'll be doing this one at the weekend!

#9. Jessica Smith 20-Minute Beach Body Pilates

All this grey, cold rainy weather in London has really got us thinking, wouldn't it be great if we could watch a workout video on the beach? Not on the actual beach ourselves (although that would be perfect), but one with a beautiful backdrop that helps to lift our mood. It's never too early to start preparing your beach body for next year, and this 20-minute workout video by Jessica Smith is up there in our top 10. If you have some experience of Pilates, this intermediate workout is perfect – no specialist equipment is needed; all you'll need is a mat and a towel!

#10. Jessica Smith 23-Minute Core Floor Workout

A mat or towel is recommended if you're working out on a hard floor – this 25-minute workout focuses on your core (abdominal muscles), strengthening your back, which can help to prevent back pain, and improving posture and flexibility. This is one of our favourite videos for a rock-hard core!
