10 healthy Valentine's gifts to steal their heart

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and if you're always one of the men (or women) trudging to the garage for a wilted bunch of flowers at the last minute, it's time to do things differently this year! Why not get the health and fitness nut in your life a healthy, pampering Valentine's gift that he, or she, will really love. Forget flowers, chocolates and teddy bears that say 'I Wuv You' - get them something cool, fun and practical that they'll be able to use, eat or otherwise enjoy. Here are the Expertrain team's top picks for healthy Valentine's gifts - if you're out there, secret admirers, we'd all love to receive any of these, so chances are your other half will too!

#1. Healthy Hamper

Who doesn't love to receive a hamper packed with goodies? We love Archie Brown's range of healthy hampers, which includes organic raw food hampers, gluten-free hampers and hampers specifically designed for Valentine's Day. Their Valentine's hampers range includes one with toiletries for him (or her) and a vegan/veggie hamper loaded with goodies such as dark chocolate spread and Pukka Love Tea. Bliss!

#2. Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

Steer clear of the giant boxes of Thornton's choccies and opt for something a little healthier. Chocolate dipped strawberries can be found in many stores, or you could make your own at home. Use antioxidant-rich dark chocolate for the healthiest option - strawberries are loaded with vitamin C and you could enjoy them together!

#3. Garmin Vivofit Fitness Band

For the woman who has everything, or the guy who loves gadgets, why not get them the Garmin Vivofit fitness band? It's something a bit more unusual than your average pair of diamond earrings, and if you both have one, you could go for a morning run or training session together - how romantic! This nifty wristband displays steps, calories and distance - it even monitors your sleep. For a healthier lifestyle, it's sure to become their favourite new gadget, and it's available in five cool colours to suit their style. You can buy the Garmin Vivofit online or at John Lewis.

#4. Vitamix Blender

If you're a fan of soups and smoothies (most of us then), you probably already have a blender at home, but you might not have splashed out on a Vitamix. Probably THE most famous blender brand, Vitamix's range of high-powered blenders are the holy grail of home cooking. Even if you do only make a green smoothie on the weekends. Getting her (or him) one of these to create delicious drinks with is sure to go down a treat!

#5. Yoga Mat

Not just any yoga mat, but one from leading brand Manuka. Produced in Notting Hill, their range of stylish, quirky mats includes the Yoga Bunny mat, with its cute little ear embellishment. Fun aside though, this yoga mat is latex and phthalate free, so it's ideal if she has sensitive skin and it has a custom-made tie, making it easy to roll up and transport to class. Cute!

#6. Organic Truffles

If chocolate is their weakness, stay away from fat and sugar-laden chocolates often laced with additives, and opt for Montezuma's Vegan and Organic Collection Truffles. Available from Holland and Barrett (you can order online if you don't live near a store), these truffles come in an elegant gift box and are a dairy-free, organic alternative to mass-produced confectionery from the supermarket.

#7. Gym Bag

Spending all your time at the gym isn't necessarily a bad thing, but a gym bag is an essential part of any gym addict's kit. Get them a bag they'll be proud to take to their training session, such as the Nike Team Training Mini Duffel Bag. It's minimalist and simple style features a waterproof coating, so it's as at home at bootcamp or whilst playing team sports outside as it is at the gym.

#8. Apple iPod

If they don't already have an MP3 player, or if theirs is broken, how are they going to motivate themselves whilst running on the treadmill or smashing their fitness goals! Buying your partner an MP3 player (doesn't have to be an iPod, we're just going with the most popular option) is more romantic than most people think. You could even set it up for them and create a playlist with songs you've chosen specially for them! Who said romance was dead?

#9. Botanical Beauty Treatments

Organic skincare and bodycare products are the best way to avoid parabens and other nasties in commercially available products. Why not treat them to a gift set from Trilogy? Their Botanical Beauties set comes in at under £20 and includes organic rosehip oil - great for fading scars and stretchmarks, or for use as a rich facial moisturiser, and their botanical body wash. As an added bonus, you can appreciate how lovely they smell after their shower!

#10. Modern Mix Tape

This last gift is one of our favourites - and even better, it's free! A modern take on the mix-tape, create them a CD or even better, a playlist of songs that are meaningful to the two of you. If they're upbeat and great for working out to, even better! This takes just a bit of time to put together, so you have no excuse that you didn't have time to make the effort this February 14th!

Your other half is sure to be impressed by your efforts and the thought you've put into finding them the perfect gift, whatever you choose for them. It's the thought that counts!
