16 Signs you've had a good year

It's almost the end of the year - it has gone so fast, we're wondering what happened! If, like many of us, you're feeling like you're not where you thought you'd be - whether that's because you broke your New Year's resolutions or just because you're stuck in a rut - don't panic! Regret isn't healthy or productive. Learn to be an optimist and focus on the positive by creating a 'Year in Review.'

By reflecting on the past year and writing down important events, you can see how far you've come and work on any new goals for next year. Self-reflection and self-love are both key to your happiness, so take a second to look at what you've achieved this year. You'll probably find you're on the right track, even if things didn't exactly go to plan! We've got 16 signs you had a good year - check them out and see how many you can tick off.

#1. You took risks

Ok, so you might have felt a bit afraid, but you pushed forward, made changes in your life, took some big decisions and ultimately did what was right for you. Pat yourself on the back! Change is hard, but it is good for us.

#2. You focused on what you wanted...

Rather than on what you didn't; and you know you're on the right road to achieving it.

#3. You're capable of celebrating your own achievements

You realise how far you have come and how much you've grown over the past 12 months.

#4. You didn't meet all your goals...and that's totally ok

You tried, you grew as a person and you're happy with who you're becoming. It doesn't matter that you didn't achieve all your goals - that's what next year is for!

#5. You've learned to take life less seriously

Laughing at yourself and at most situations in life is really beneficial for your health. You definitely take life less seriously these days.

#6. You've stopped worrying so much

You've recognised that there are things in life you can't change, and wasting time worrying about them is pointless. You know you're on the right path to get to where you want to be.

#7. You find yourself smiling more

Both when you're around others and when you're alone.

#8. You've made peace with your past

Holding onto anger can make you ill, and this year you've forgiven people for the past and let go of unneccessary anger; you're enjoying a fresh start.

#9. You appreciate the moment

You've learned to appreciate the little things in life and are more patient than you used to be.

#10. You've learned to enjoy your own company

Who would have thought that sometimes you would actually prefer to spend time with yourself than with other people? You're becoming your own best friend, and spending time in your own company can help you to get to know yourself.

#11. You're enjoying the ride

Stressing about the future and taking a control freak approach to life is the quickest way to get stressed out; you've realised this and you've learned to just sit back and enjoy the ride, even when things don't go to plan!

#12. You've opened up

This year you've exposed more of your true self to your loved ones and enjoyed closer relationships as a result.

#13. You've learned to stop comparing yourself to others

Comparing yourself with others, whether in person, in magazines or on social media, isn't healthy. You've stopped doing this, or at least cut back on the amount you do it. That's because you like who you are!

#14. You feel positive about the future

You believe in yourself and the direction you're heading in, wherever that takes you.

#15. You go with your gut

You no longer force things. When it's right, you just know. If it's meant to be, it will be.

#16. You're focused on your own happiness

You do things more because they will make you happy or enhance your life in some way, rather than just focusing on the end results (like earning more money). As a result, your work/life balance has improved this year.

How has your year been; and how many of the above statements could you tick off? We'd love to hear your results!
