A cracking burger recipe

If you want something tasty, wholesome and nutritious then you need a cracking burger. Yes, a burger may not seem like a "healthy" option but when it's homemade with quality ingredients there's nothing better, and you get a hit of protein!

This recipe is very simple to follow and only takes about 15 minutes to make so it's a perfect mid week meal. 

You will need: 

500g of lean minced beef

8 sprigs of parsley

1 free range egg

12 crackers

Olive oil

6 bread rolls

1 lettuce

2 tomatoes

Slices of cheese

1 red onion

What you need to do:

First of all you need to make the crackers into crumbs. The easiest way of doing this is to put the crackers into a plastic bag and smash them with a rolling pin. Once the crackers are a crumb-like consistency put them into a large bowl. Chop the parsley sprigs, including the stalks, and add them to the crackers. Add the meat and the egg to the bowl and mix altogether with your hands. Once all of the cracker crumbs have mixed into the meat you can separate the mixture into 6 patties. The patties cook best if they are roughly 2cm thick

Now you have a choice: You can either coat the patties in olive oil and fry in a pan or pop them onto a lean mean grilling machine - whichever you decide takes 3-4 minutes on each side. 

Add the salad and burger to the bread roll and enjoy :-)
