14 Yummy, healthy ways to flavour your popcorn

What's affordable, simple to make, low in fat and gluten-free? Popcorn of course! It's the ultimate movie night snack but it's also a great option if you have the munchies at any time of day. Did you know that popcorn is naturally high in serotonin, which can lift your mood and help you to relax? Sadly, popcorn often gets a bad rep when its smothered in butter and salt or artificial flavourings, but we've got 14 healthy recipes that provide you with plenty of tasty options for every craving, whether sweet or savoury!


#1. Chocolate Drizzle Popcorn

This amazing two-ingredient recipe calls for popcorn and chocolate - that's it! Super-simple to make, we recommend using high-quality dark chocolate if possible, as this contains less sugar and is loaded with antioxidants. Perfect for when you're looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth!

#2. Vanilla Almond Popcorn

If you're a fan of vanilla and almonds, this is the movie-night popcorn for you. It uses dates, nature's sweetener, with coconut oil, vanilla extract and almonds to form a sweet, moreish sauce for the popcorn. Sounds delicious!

#3. Spicy Nutella Popcorn

Devised for World Nutella Day (we didn't even know such a thing existed until we saw this recipe!) this has to be one of our favourite ways to satisfy a sugar craving. Adding some chilli, cinnamon and coffee to Nutella and the result mixture to freshly-popped corn is really moreish. Yum!

#4. Healthy Caramel Popcorn

Steer clear of processed bags of caramel corn you'll find on your weekly shop and make this clean-eating version instead, which uses only three healthy ingredients - nut butter, honey and popcorn. We love that you can mix things up by using the nut butter of your choice - we use almond but you could use peanut if you like!

Adjust the level of spice to taste, depending on who you're sharing with.
