Super-healthy juices to boost your energy levels!

Time to go to work? Forget that first-thing caffeine kick. Step away from the coffee machine and put the teabags away. There's a better way to start your morning that will leave you feeling nourished and rejuvenated. What are we talking about? Juice! Yeah, yeah, we know that those trendy juice bars charge a fortune for their imaginative, colourful blends - so most of us can't afford to make this a daily habit. But bear with us....why not make your own juice at home? For a wake-up wow or a mid-afternoon refresher, nothing beats a glass of freshly squeezed juice packed with enzymes and nutrients and you can experiment with different fruit and vegetables to find your perfect blend. We've got 12 recipes to get you started!

For all the below recipes, simply peel, slice or chop and juice the ingredients to create a delicious, refreshing drink! We recommend picking up fruit and vegetables at your local market, if you have one, as you'll get better value for money. The leading supermarkets often do bags of value vegetables and fruit which are great for juicing - pick some up on your weekly shop!

Green Goddess

Classic, healthy and refreshing, Green Goddess juice is packed with iron and vitamin C.

You'll Need:

1 stalk celery

1 handful kale

1 apple

1 pear

1/2 a cucumber

1 tsp lemon juice

Juice the ingredients and enjoy!

Iron Maiden

If you're vegetarian, vegan or suffer from low iron levels, this is a great way to boost your iron levels whilst getting your day off to a great start!

You'll need:

2 large beets, peeled and sliced

1 peeled and cored apple

2 carrots

A handful of spinach

1/4 cup of water

Vitamin C Shot

Boost your vitamin C levels with this fruity smoothie which makes the most of fresh kiwis and blackberries - a great way towards your five-a-day!

You'll need:

1 cup of blackberries

1 cup of currants

1 peeled, sliced kiwi

1 tangerine

1 orange

1/2 tsp lime juice

Massively Minty

If you're into mint, this refreshing juice blend is a great option. We think this is the perfect mid-afternoon pick-me-up, ideal if you're suffering a slump after a busy morning at work!

You'll need:

2 stalks of fennel (with leaves)

1 green apple

1 cucumber

A handful of mint

1-inch chunk of ginger, peeled and chopped

Sweet Dreams

Perfect for post-workout relaxation, this juice is packed with goodness and costs a lot less to make than picking it up at your local neighbourhood juice bar!

You'll need:

2 romaine lettuce leaves

1/2 cucumber

A small handful of parsley

1 stalk celery

3 carrots


If you love berries, this vitamin-C rich juice is perfect. We love to serve ours for breakfast with some morning Greek yoghurt and yet more berries for a fruity start to the day!

You'll need:

1 cup of blackberries

1/2 cup of strawberries

1/2 cup of raspberries

2 small red apples, peeled and sliced

1 pear, peeled and sliced

Immune booster

Don't splash out on healthy immune-boosting juices when you're on a budget. Make your own to banish colds and flu and leave you feeling in tip-top shape!

You'll need:

3 carrots

2 celery stalks

A handful of spinach

1-inch piece of ginger

1 lemon

Dash of Sriracha sauce or pinch of cayenne pepper

Once you've juiced the ingredients, heat the mixture slowly in a small saucepan, but don't let it boil! Add the Sriracha or cayenne and drink it while it's hot.

Back to Your Roots

Love beetroot? Then you'll love this vibrant root vegetable juice, which makes the most of affordable vegetables.

You'll need:

2 large beetroots, peeled and sliced

1 parsnip

3 carrots

1/2-inch piece of root ginger

2 tbsp water

Detox Diva

Detox and cleanse your liver after a night out drinking with this gorgeous green juice. Dandelion has been traditionally used as a liver cleanser for hundreds of years.

You'll need:

3 to 4 carrots

1/2 cucumber

A handful of dandelion greens

1/2 lemon

We love starting the day with a fruity juice blend, or packing our own juice to take to the gym or enjoy after a run, and there's no need to bankrupt yourself by spending a fortune on expensive juices everyday!
