Expertrain's June Health and fitness trends

Here at Expertrain HQ, we're always on the lookout for the latest trends that will appeal to our readers - we want to keep you informed about what's hot, and what's not, when it comes to health and fitness. So if you want to know what's happening this June, look no further! We've got the lowdown on what we're eating, drinking - even the kitchen gadgets we're buying this month...

We'll be buying...

A spiraliser! This is the coolest of the cool when it comes to healthy kitchen gadgets. In case you haven't heard of it (where have you been?!), it's a nifty little device which turns your favourite veggies into pasta/noodles, for use in salads or hot dishes.

So if you fancy making your own zoodles (zucchini noodles) then grab yourself one of these. You could always use a julienne peeler, but this is way more fun. You can turn your veggie noodles into delicious raw salad with the addition of your favourite dressing, or smother them in sauce for a great low-carb pasta alternative. Pick yours up at Amazon here.

We'll be eating...

Bone broth! Not convinced? Well for a start, bone broth is loaded with collagen, which is vital for healthy, beautiful skin. It's also packed with vitamins, minerals and healthy fats which help your body to absorb fat-soluble vitamins such as vitamin D. It's affordable, super-healthy and a great base for soups, stews and sauces. The Hemsley sisters swear by it. and they look pretty amazing, so that's good enough for us! Get the recipe here.

We'll be drinking...

Pomegranate juice. This super-fruit juice is chock full of antioxidants. In case you didn't know, antioxidants (found in a range of brightly coloured fruit and veggies) fight damage-causing free radicals, protecting your body against diseases such as cancer. They can also help to fight ageing, leaving you with that youthful glow! Try mixing some pomegranate juice into your smoothie for a healthy antioxidant boost, or enjoy a glass for breakfast as one of your five a day. Look out for pure juice with no added sugar or additives.

We'll be reading...

The Art of Eating Well by Jasmine and Melissa Hemsley. This has been the Expertrain team's cookbook of choice since Christmas and it's showing no signs of going anywhere! Packed with gorgeous photography and amazing clean-eating recipes, you'll wonder how you managed without it. It's pretty clear that these girls love their food, and high-quality, fresh ingredients are a key part of their recipes. Healthy food has never been so tasty or so much fun to prepare, and most of the recipes are pretty simple to make. Our favourite has to be the Chestnut Flour Pancakes with Orange Blossom Coconut Yoghurt, a delicious weekend breakfast that feels oh-so-indulgent (but is actually really good for you)!

We'll be wearing...

Nike's Flyknit Lunar 3 running shoes are the shoe of the season to be seen in on your morning run. Available for men and women, these boast a super-light upper that offers major cushioning and serious support. Great for long-distance runs, you'll find there's a choice of cool colours. Our favourite has to be the Persian Violet/University Blue for its striking good looks. Expect to pay anywhere from £90 to £140 depending on where you shop - well worth it to improve your running performance and motivate yourself during your marathon training!

We'll be trying...

Summer circus classes in Regent's Park with Gorilla Circus. These have been running every summer for a while now, and it's a great excuse to try something new when it comes to fitness! Fancy yourself on the flying trapeze? Now's your chance. Most classes have sold out for this summer but if you're quick you might be able to get yourself a spot. If not, there's always next year, or if you can't make it to London, why not check out aerial fitness classes in your area to boost your flexibility and upper-body strength?

We'll be going...

To Juice Tonic Organic Juicery in London's Soho. Keep your eyes peeled and you just might spot one of the Expertrain team there! Straight out of California, this juice bar has a detox menu to fix whatever ails you. Feeling stressed out, de-motivated or full of the cold? There's a juice for that! You can customise your juice to suit your needs and make sure you check out their raw-food puddings (we love the goji berry and cocoa macaroons) as they're to die for! Grab a Green Power juice, enriched with spirulina and maca - perfect before or after your workout.
