Skin enhancing smoothies which taste pretty good too!

The trendiest piece of kitchen equipment at the moment is the glorious nurtibullet. The nutribullet squeezes every last drop of disease-fighting antioxidants, joint relieving Omega 3’s and muscle-strengthening protein from the foods we eat and drink every day.

Tom and I met TV presenter and fitness Vlogger AJ Odudu to make our own delicious smoothies using the famous nurtibullet. Due to the nurtibullet being so simple to use the method is the same for both smoothies: simply pop all the ingredients into the nutribullet and blend. The cyclonic action in the nurtibullet breaks the pulp, skin, seeds and stems of the plants allowing you to make a quick and nutritious smoothie.

AJ’s Spirulina Green Smoothie

A natural algae which is full of protein and nutrients. It is largely made up of essential amino acids and has a high iron content. It is also full of Folic Acid, Omega 3, 6 and 9, vitamin B, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D and vitamin E. Spirulina also acts as an anti-inflammatory.

1 banana

Bananas are known for their potassium and fiber content. They have also been shown to reduce blood pressure and play a pivotal part in cell formation.

1 handful of lettuce

Lettuce helps with keeping the alkaline and acid balance in your body. It is full of vitamin C and beta-carotene which will keep your heart healthy.

1 handful of spinach

This leafy green is an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A, magnesium, iron, calcium, vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin E and zinc. You really can’t eat enough of this bad boy.

This is known for being crammed full of potassium but it also contains natural sugars to make the smoothie slightly sweeter.

Tom and Hannah’s Skin Enhancing Smoothie

1 avocado

Avocados are stacked full of antioxidants that will improve your skin's density, thickness, tone and general appearance.  The vitamin C in an avocado is needed for the creation of elastin and collagen which will bind your skin cells together. Vitamin E is also present which reduce the effects of UVA and UVB radiation.

1 handful of spinach

Spinach is high in antioxidants which will help keep your skin supple and well hydrated. It is also a natural cure of acne and will leave your complexion radiant.

1 handful of pomegranate

Pomegranate improves blood circulation and digestive issues which is the main cause of acne. It then helps to heal the acne by regenerating tissues in the affected area. Pomegranate also extends the life of fibroblasts (the cells which are responsible of elastin and collegan) which keeps your skin youthful.

1 handful of strawberries

Strawberries have lightening properties - they are very effective in removing age spots and freckles. Strawberries are full of vitamin C, salicylic acid and flavonoids which can reduce oil in your skin and freshen it up.

1 handful of red grapes

Grapes help to protect your skin from pollution and toxins.

1 mug of green tea

Packed full of antioxidants green tea will reduce any redness in your skin. Studies have also shown that green tea helps fight inflammation.

Both of the smoothies tasted amazing and are full of goodness. We would love to know which one is your favourite :-)
